Direct Care/Med Aide

Summary:

Med Aide Staff members will play an important role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey by ensuring safe medication administration, promoting client wellbeing, and helping maintain a supportive environment.

The ideal candidate is organized, professional, adaptable, and passionate about helping others. In addition to medication administration duties, this role will also provide direct care support for clients in our Withdrawal Management (WM) program and other treatment programs throughout the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Administer medications as prescribed and according to physician orders and facility policies
• Accurately document medication administration and client interactions
• Monitor clients for medication effectiveness, side effects, and changes in condition
• Observe and report client behaviors, concerns, or medical issues to nursing staff
• Communicate with nurses, providers, and other treatment team members regarding client care needs
• Assist clients with questions related to medications within scope of practice
• Support clients throughout the recovery process by promoting a safe, respectful, and positive environment
• Maintain medication carts, inventory, medication records, and related supplies
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, medication regulations, and facility standards
• Provide direct care services for clients in the Withdrawal Management (WM) program, including observation, support, monitoring, and assisting with client needs throughout treatment
• Provide direct care support for clients in all other facility programs as needed, including assisting with daily activities, client supervision, and promoting program engagement
• Monitor client wellbeing and promptly report concerns or changes in behavior or condition
• Assist with daily operations and provide support to nursing staff and direct care staff as needed
• Participate in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support client care and facility operations

Qualifications:

• Current Medication Aide certification required
• High school diploma or GED required
• CPR and First Aid certification required

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt in a fast-paced recovery environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLD) certification within six months of hire
  • Completion of drug testing training and certification, as required by facility policies
  • Must pass a criminal background check and be cleared on the Nurse Aid Registry, Adult Protective Services Central Registry, and other required Nebraska registries

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment including standing, sitting, and climbing stairs and/or walking throughout the shift
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and 50 pounds on occasion

Compensation:

• $15-$18 per hour
